Lady Tigers Claim Knox County Championship

The Canton Lady Tigers claimed their second softball championship in as many tries at Knox County this weekend.

Round 1: Canton 15 Marion County 0

A 12-run explosion in the first inning hoisted the Canton Lady Tigers to a 15-0 win in four innings over Marion County.

The Lady Tigers Varsity scored in the first on an RBI double byAllison Phillips, a two-run single by Olivia Jarvis, a groundout by Saylor Collins, an RBI single by Katie Gaus, a walk by Bri Caldwell, a bases loaded walk, a two-run double by Phillips, and a three-run home run by Jarvis.

Canton's Laken Hugenberg, Phillips, Jarvis, and Gaus combined for nine hits and 10 RBIs.

The Lady Tigers pushed one run across in each of the second, third, and fourth innings.

Canton scored anouther run in the bottom of the fourth. The inning got off to a hot start when Hugenberg singled, scoring Phillips. That was followed up by Hugenberg's single, bringing home Phillips.

Round 2: Canton 8 Knox County 7

After nine lead changes in the second round of the Knox County Tournament, th Lady Tigers finally pulled out a 8-7 win over Knox County.

Canton finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. Lady Tigers scored on an RBI double by Laken Hugenberg, scoring Olivia Jarvis.

Jarvis racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Lady Tigers. She singled in the third and fourth innings and doubled in the sixth inning.

Championship: Canton 7 Monroe City 0

A four-run third inning led the Lady Tigers to a 7-0 win over Monroe City.

The Canton Lady Tigers scored in the third on a single by Jensen Crenshaw, a two-run single by Allison Phillips, and a passed ball.

Phillips racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Canton Lady Tigers Varsity.

Monroe City wasn't able to score a run off of Olivia Jarvis during her 6 1/3 innings in the circle. Jarvis struck out two and allowed one walk and three hits.

The Lady Tigers tacked on another three runs in the fourth. Crenshaw 's single got things going, scoring Emma McKinstry. That was followed up by Phillips 's double, bringing home Bri Caldwell.
