Lady Tigers Take 2nd at Paris Tournament

Round 1: Canton 18 Paris 3

The Canton Lady Tigers jumped out to an early lead on Paris and captured an 18-3 victory on Saturday at Paris Tournament.

Fourteen runs in the first three innings allowed the Lady Tigers to put the game away early. An error, an RBI single by Laken Hugenberg, and a two-run error during the first inning and an error, a passed ball, an RBI single by Saylor Collins, an RBI double by Katie Gaus, and an error in the second inning supplied the early offense for Canton.

Bri Caldwell racked up three RBIs on two hits. She singled in the first inning and doubled in the fourth inning.

Caldwell got the win for Canton. She allowed three runs over four innings. Caldwell struck out two, walked two and gave up two hits.

The Canton Lady Tigers pushed across four runs in both the third inning and the fourth. In the third, the Lady Tigers scored on a groundout by Caldwell, bringing home Emma McKinstry.

Round 2: Canton 7 South Shelby 3

Allison Phillips went 2-4 as the Canton Lady Tigers took home a 7-3 victory over South Shelby in seven innings at the Paris Tournament on Saturday. She doubled in the first inning and singled in the third inning. Olivia Jarvis was a workhorse on the rubber for the Lady Tigers. Jarvis pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and no walks while striking out five.

Canton never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on a two-run double by Phillips. After posting one run in the second, they scored one in the fifth. In the second, the Lady Tigers scored on an RBI double by Emma McKinstry, scoring Kailee Gaither. They tacked on another three runs in the third. An error scored Jensen Crenshaw to get the Lady Tigers on the board in the inning. That was followed up by Gaither 's single, scoring Phillips and Laken Hugenberg.

Championship: Canton 6 Salisbury 7

The Canton Lady Tigers looked to be in control, up by six runs in the fifth inning, but Salisbury came back to grab a 7-6 win on Saturday at the Paris Tournament.

Allison Phillips racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Lady Tigers. She homered in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

After posting two runs in the third, the Lady Tigers again scored two in the fourth. In the third, they scored on an RBI double by Phillips, scoring Bri Caldwell.

Salisbury tied the game in the sixth on a two-run single.

Salisbury stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the seventh, scoring one run on an RBI double.
