The Canton Tigers Varsity jumped out to an early lead on Macon County and captured an 18-5 victory on Saturday.
An RBI single by Koy Smith, a two-run single by Cooper Hudnut, a two-run single by Mason Wright, and a walk by Logan Brown in the first inning and a passed ball, an RBI double by Drake Serbin, and a wild pitch during the second inning fueled the Canton Tigers Varsity's offense early.
Josh Kermoade went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for the Canton Tigers Varsity. He singled in the first and third innings.
The Canton Tigers handled Macon County pitching as six hitters combined for 11 hits, 11 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
The Tigers scored four runs in the third inning, and then followed it up with four more in the fifth. In the third, Canton scored on a two-run single by Kermoade, bringing home Smith and Lance Logsdon.
Canton 6 Novinger 3
The Canton Tigers beat Novinger 6-3 Saturday behind both the bat and the arm of Lance Logsdon.
Logsdon had three extra-base hits for the Tigers. He doubled in the first and fifth innings and homered in the seventh inning.
Logsdon baffled Novinger, striking out nine batters. Logsdon allowed two earned runs on five hits and three walks over seven innings.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.
The Tigers took the lead in the seventh inning and held on for the victory. They scored on a two-run home run by Logsdon, scoring Logan Brown.
The Canton Tigers Varsity were sparked by Logsdon and Cooper Hudnut, who teamed up for six hits and five RBIs.
The top of the third saw the Tigers take an early lead, 2-0. Brown singled to start things off before Hudnut homered, plating Brown.
