Logan Brown went 3-3 at the plate, sparking the Canton Tigers to a 5-2 victory in seven innings over Community on Saturday. He singled in the first, second, and fourth innings.
Lance Logsdon's 14 strikeouts were enough to push the Tigers past Community. Logsdon allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk over seven innings.
Curtis took the loss for Community R-6. He lasted just 5 1/3 innings, walked six, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
Canton went up for good in the second, scoring two runs on a double by Koy Smith and a groundout by Mason Wright.
After pushing across two runs in the top of the fourth, Community faced just a 3-2 deficit. A two-run single by Houghton gave Community life. The Community threat came to an end when Logsdon finally got Fairchild to strike out.
Tigers 13 Madison 0
A seven-run explosion in the fourth inning carried the Canton Tigers to a 13-0 win in five innings over Madison on Saturday to claim the Madison Tournament Championship.
The Tigers scored in the fourth on a bases loaded walk, a walk by Brody Smith, a two-run single by Logan Brown, a two-run double by Lance Logsdon, and an RBI single by Ethan Wingerter.
Logsdon racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Canton Tigers Varsity.
The Tigers' Drake Serbin kept Madison off the scoreboard for all five innings he was on the mound. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out five.
The Tigers took the lead early in the first, scoring one run on an RBI triple by Cooper Hudnut.
The Tigers tacked on another four runs in the second. Koy Smith's single got things going, bringing home Wingerter. That was followed up by Logsdon's single, scoring Lavion Wilson.
