Tigers 10 Putnam County 5
Five first-inning runs helped the Canton Tigers to a 10-5 win over Putnam on Tuesday.
The Canton Tigers Varsity scored in the first on a three-run home run by Cooper Hudnut, an error, and an RBI single by Mason Wright.
Hudnut racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Tigers.
Lance Logsdon had an impressive outing in relief against Putnam's lineup. Logsdon held Putnam hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Hudnut recorded the win for the Canton Tigers. He allowed three runs over 4 1/3 innings. He struck out one, walked three and surrendered four hits.
The Tigers scored two runs in the third inning, and then followed it up with two more in the sixth. In the third, Canton scored on a walk by Trey Metz, bringing home Trevor Durst.
One run in the top of the fourth helped Putnam close its deficit to 7-2.
After pushing across one run in the top of the fifth, Putnam faced just a 7-3 deficit. A passed ball gave Putnam life. Finally, Koy Smith induced an inning-ending strike out.
The Canton Tigers answered Putnam's top inning with one run of their own in the fifth. The Tigers scored on a passed ball.
Two runs in the top of the sixth helped Putnam close its deficit to 8-5. The Canton Tigers stopped the rally after Logsdon induced a fly out.
